"Having my bike stolen has deterred me from cycling"

Emma's Stolen Bike

Emma had her bike stolen in Hammersmith

In a BBC news article, Londoner Emma O'Callaghan (pictured above) told the BBC she had "locked my bike on a busy road directly under a CCTV camera... and when I returned a few hours later it had been stolen".

She said she contacted the police who reviewed the CCTV footage, which showed two men stealing her bike, but officers soon closed the case deeming the footage not high quality enough.

She added: "I now don't lock my bike on a public street as I know that if it goes missing, the police won't do anything about it.

It turns out she's not alone, almost 90% of bike thefts reported in England go unsolved, according to figures from the House of Commons Library.

Stolen bikes in the UK are a huge issue, but London is the true epicenter. According to Stolen Ride, whilst around 20,000 bikes are reported stolen to the police in London each year, the true figure could be nearer 70,000.

By creating a network of secure bike parking in London, our mission with Hudjo is to encourage people like Emma to get back on the saddle.

....... in the highly unlikely case your bike does get stolen from a Hudjo location, we'll cover the cost of replacement :)
