Hop Kingdom, an indoor skatepark, bar, and bike workshop in the heart of London, now offer secure bike storage on Hudjo

Hop Kingdom, an indoor skatepark, bar, and bike workshop in the heart of London, is the newest member of the Hudjo community.

A five minute walk from London Bridge Station and a three minute walk from the popular Bermondsey Street, where you'll find some of south-east London's best restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. You can now safely leave your bike with Ben and the rest of the friendly team at Hop Kingdom whilst you enjoy everything the vibrant area has to offer.

Meet Ben Hopkinson, Founder of Hop Kingdom

“The sign of a good place is a random eclectic mix of people who feel comfortable to be themselves, regardless of their background.,” Hopkinson says. Ben Hopkinson is not a fan of cliques, and Hop Kingdom, his indoor skatepark and taproom, aims to smash two of them. First, are the beer bores, who sniff at anyone who can’t tell an IPA from a pale ale. Next, are the skate snobs who aren’t interested unless you’re doing the right trick. “Skating and craft beer can be intimidating for newcomers, so why not combine the two and make both accessible?” he says. Hop Kingdom, housed in two Southwark railway arches on Druid Street, is the realisation of that dream.

With regards to adding Secure Bike Parking to his wide array of services, Ben told us that many of his friends have had bikes stolen in the past, and for that very reason he has to opt for an expensive Lime Bike rather than his own bike when he needs to get around London. "As a community orientated business, Hop Kingdom are proud to play their part in solving the growing issue of bike theft in London" says Ben.

The Bike Workshop

Since opening in 2018, Hop Kingdom has been a meeting spot for cyclists of all kinds from all over London, from just quick stops to refuel mid-ride or a meeting point to start or finish community rides.

"There’s only so much bike affiliation that one skatepark can take before it must expand and service the community that’s supporting it" says Ben. That’s where The Workshop comes in! Located behind the Skatepark, The Workshop is there to keep you moving!

Dave Elsey, AKA Big Dave, is their Workshop Manager and comes from 8 years of service at Look Mum No Hands. A Hop Kingdom regular and local legend, Dave has 16 years of experience as a bike mechanic and is one of the best in London. His passion for bikes is clear to see in the dirtiness of his hands and the happiness of his customers. Dave is always there to help alongside Krzysztov their second Mechanic – another local and amazing Fixed Gear rider who takes a meticulous approach to everything.
